McLaren 650S may replace 12C, landing soon in UAE
Initially thought to be sitting between McLaren’s MP4-12C and P1 models, the 650S is the small British carmaker’s latest offering. Unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show, word now is that it may be replacing the awkwardly-named MP4-12C, considering it really is just a 12C with a P1 face. The official word though, is that the 12C will continue to be sold alongside the pricier 650S for the time being.
Sitting low behind the front seats is a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 641 hp and 678 Nm of torque. All the power is harnessed by a 7-speed SSG transmission, and hence, 3 seconds is all it takes to hit from 0-100 kph and subsequently 200 kph is met in 8.4 seconds. The car rides on 19-inch and 20-inch wheels front and rear, while stopping power comes from carbon ceramic discs and the McLaren airbrake.
The supercar will be available in both coupe and spider variants. The car will be displayed at the end of this month in the Dubai showroom. GCC deliveries will start by September.
