Video of the week: Mercedes A45 AMG dune-bashing in African desert
Everybody keeps asking us what’s the best offroader. And we generally dodge this question, because it really depends more on skill than any specific 4×4 model. Even crossovers can go offroad, as we have proven before. But if you are brave enough, you can even take an all-wheel-drive turbo hatchback on the big dunes. Here is a 353 hp Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG on the sand, not just casually strolling, but properly dune-bashing as if it were an offroad buggy.

If u watch intently….the A45 is going along a path already driven by over a number of times….am I the only one seeing this? Or is it that just for the video it’s been going on a certain stretch

Haha. That’s pure marketing. Dont get fooled, we dont know how many times the car got stuck before they could put together 1.30 min of footage. Its impressive but just an add. In real life things are different.

Agree. It is indeed an ad.

i don’t understand why there are negative votes on some comments that are make seance. u people really believe that this car can handle such sand ye it is possible that it would move a little bit in high speed because its allwheeldrive system but its for sport drive not safari.

Whether the car got stuck a hundred times, or whether there are pre-driven tracks on some parts, or whether the car is even broken at the end of it, the fact that it did even this much is a feat in itself.

sheer turbo power!! reminded me of my time with the Tiguan 2.0L turbo on low-profile rubbers..
