Video: Hennessey-tuned 2014 Chevrolet SS hits 262 kph

Hennessey Chevrolet SS
Hennessey are at it again and they have just released footage of their version of the 2014 Chevrolet SS hitting 262 kph on a road in Texas, USA.

The Chevrolet SS has been fitted with a HPE600 supercharger to help generate the extra oomph from the 6.2-litre V8 engine, which normally produces about 415 hp. Hennessey were helping state officials test out the new toll-system on the road, hence the presence of the Dodge Challenger police car in the video.

The American-tuning company also pointed out that the modified SS can go much faster but Chevrolet told them to limit the speed to 162 mph (262 kph), which it hits in fifth gear on the 6-speed transmission.

What do you think?

  1. The top speed is limited by the computer to protect the transmission.
I assume the purpose of this video is free advertising for Hennessey. The strange part is they didn’t demonstrate anything that the car wasn’t already capable of before the upgrade. ??? Show us something where the added 185 HP made a difference.

The video demonstrates how quickly it reaches 262 kph, rather than the top speed. I seriously doubt the regular Chevrolet SS can accelerate to 262 kph as fast.

  2. @ Marouf. Is the SS being sold in GCC? I mean the normal factory tuned SS.

  3. When is it coming in the market of uae??
