Mercedes-Benz shows off SLS AMG GT Final Edition at Tokyo and L.A.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Final Edition is ended to mark the end-of-life for the gull-winged sports car, as Mercedes will wrap up production next year. And the company showed it off at the 2013 Tokyo and Los Angeles Auto Shows simultaneously.
First bursting onto the scene in 2009, the 6.3-litre V8 supercar, grabbed the hearts of many with the tag of being the virtual successor to the original 300 SL Gullwing. Many editions to the SLS AMG followed. The AMG Desert Gold, Blackbird, GT are some of them. At some point there was even was an E-Cell prototype version. Let’s also not forget that it features in the Dubai policecar fleet. The latest SLS AMG will produce 591 hp, which is a whole 20 hp more than when it debuted in 2009.
We don’t have any specific details as to what will be exclusive to the SLS AMG GT Final Edition from the standard models. But Mercedes says that the production of the SLS AMG will be restricted to a mere 350 units, before we officially see the end of the run.
