Alfa Romeo 4C sets new record ahead of UAE debut
The Alfa Romeo 4C recently set a new record at the Nurburgring for under-250 hp cars, with a time of 8 minutes 4 seconds. It just adds to the allure of a car that will soon debut in the GCC.
With Germany’s Horst von Saurma behind the wheel, the cars appears to be stock except for a lot of tape in strategic places for whatever reason. The track configuration used was the 22.81 km Nordschleife.
The Alfa Romeo 4C is powered by a 240 hp 1.75-litre turbo 4-cylinder mated to a “TCT” dual-clutch automatic and capable of doing the 0-100 kph run in 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 258 kph and lateral acceleration over 1.1 g. Maximum torque of 350 Nm is constant between 2,100 and 4,000 rpm, but 80% of the torque is already available at just 1,800 rpm.
The special Pirelli P Zero Trofeo tyres fitted to the 4C also contributed to its performance at the Nürburgring, and a record was not only set on the track, but also in the development of the tyres. After less than a year of collaboration, Pirelli and Alfa Romeo engineers developed the unique tyres for the stock 4C.
The Alfa Romeo 4C is debuting in the UAE at the 2013 Dubai Motor Show next week.
