Peugeot 308 R Concept revealed at Frankfurt

Peugeot 308 R Concept
We really like Peugeot’s new design direction. The brand has officially shed light on the 308 R Concept hot-hatch which debuted at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The 308 R Concept was revealed alongside the new 308 hatchback which it is based on; except, that this just falls into the tightly contested hot-hatch segment.

Speaking of improvements over the 308, the concept 308 R stands to a dropped suspension, a pumped-up aero kit, 19-inch wheels, upgraded Alcon brake system and an impressive two-tone gloss red and matte black paint job.

The 308 R Concept will be powered by a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbo which produces a striking 270 hp and 330 Nm of torque. Incidentally it is the same engine present in the RCZ R sports coupe. Still, the power will be routed to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual and a Torsen limited-slip differential.

Peugeot is tight lipped about the acceleration times and performance figures. But with 270 hp to play with we’re presuming performance will be better than the 250 hp Ford Focus ST and at par with the 296 hp Golf R.

What do you think?
