Lexus still on-course to build LS-based TMG Sports 650
Well, if Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz can do it, why can’t Lexus? That’s probably the point behind this insane super-sedan. Still, Toyota’s racing division has been really busy to bring into production the TMG Sports 650.
If you remember, back in 2012, Toyota Motorsport GmbH had revealed a twin-turbocharged 641 hp LS-based super-sedan. And although we haven’t heard much about it since then, the team behind Toyota’s F1 and Le Mans efforts are apparently still hard at work on the project.
Sources state that the 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 in the car was initially producing as much as 800 hp, but had to be cut down to a more sensible 650 hp so that it could “theoretically” be put into production and onto the road.
We still believe that this is Toyota’s aim to rival Mercedes-Benz’s AMG and BMW’s M divisions. And who knows, TMG might just be the next best thing. The TMG 650’s 3.9 second run to 100 kph certainly puts it on the map. But wait! What about Lexus’s F? We’re confused now.
