Dubai petrol stations to allow credit card payments again

Infiniti G35
From Sunday onwards, all petrol pumps in Dubai will allow the use of credit cards again after six years. However customers will have to pay an extra Dhs 2 if they want to use this option.

According to The National, a spokesperson from Eppco and Enoc brushed it off as a rumour, but a manager in one of the Enoc petrol stations confirmed it, claiming a circular has already been distributed to all their stations. The manager also added that credit cards will only be allowed for filling petrol and not for retail purchases.

Emarat, Eppco and Enoc had stopped providing the credit card payment service for customers in all Dubai and Northern Emirates petrol stations back in 2007 as they felt the bank charges were not reasonable. Adnoc petrol stations, which is mostly in Abu Dhabi, never stopped the service and there is no extra charge added for paying via credit card as well.

What do you think?

  1. We need this credit card payment in Qatar and across the GCC.Im tired of the gas station guy giving me the wrong balance/change

  2. Thank you Eppco, Enoc and Emarat:)

  3. We have about 2-3 stations doing it in Bahrain with no extra charges. But I think they say a minimum fill of 3 BD which is 30 litres premiuim Gas.
