Are you upset by the fact that Ford no longer makes proper off-road SUVs as big as the Excursion? Well, you’re in luck, because Hennessey has the answer.

The Ford Raptor SVT is already a pretty impressive set of kit. But if you really wanted an SUV wagon version, you get in touch with John Hennessey and his crew at Hennessey Performance.

Hennessey Performance, a tuning house in Texas, is famous for things like the mad Hennessey Venom GT, a car that can give the Bugatti Veyron a run for its money.

What Hennessey Performance does is take the standard Raptor, breathe fire on it, and add a rear cab at the back. And voila, you get the VelociRaptor SUV.

Photos suggest that the finished product rolled of Ford’s own production line, the fit and finish being that good. The split out-folding doors, seemingly borrowed from old Excursions, make rear cargo access easy.

Underneath, the truck still has Ford’s stock 411 hp 6.2-litre V8. If you fancy a little more grunt, a supercharger pack can be installed for bump in power to 600 horsepower. Hennessey claims the VelociRaptor will do the 0-100 kph run in 7.5 seconds, which is extremely impressive for a car the size of a small house. The conversion does take away some off-roading capabilities from the Raptor, with Hennessey claiming they have yet to actually test it off-road. Despite that, the main goal of this build is good on-road performance and ‘moderate’ off-road duties.

So if a Cadillac Escalade is too flashy or if a Ford Expedition is too subtle, despair not. The Texans are here to help.
