Alfa Romeo Giulietta
The 2013 Alfa Romeo Giulietta has officially been launched in the UAE and Middle East. The Giulietta, which has been around since 2010 in Europe, is the Alfa Romeo 147 replacement.

The Giulietta is equipped with a turbocharged 1.4-litre 4-cylinder ‘MultiAir’ engine, mated to a 6-speed “TCT” dual-clutch automanual transmission. Power is rated at 170 hp and 250 Nm of torque, which will propel the car from 0-100 kph in 7.7 seconds and gives it a top speed of 218 kph. It has start/stop function to further improve fuel economy, which is rated at 5.2 l/100 km in Europe.

The Giulietta gets some impressive features. The Microsoft Blue&Me system allows you to use your mobile phone and listen to music via Bluetooth, and control certain functions using the steering wheel-mounted controls. Depending on the model, there is an integrated flip-up LCD screen on top of the dash with various readouts and stereo functions, or a dealer-installed LCD touchscreen stereo deck. An optional Bose sound system is available with a power output of more than 500 watts that comprises the main speakers in addition to a subwoofer with 6 channel digital amplifier and a central speaker in the dashboard. A panoramic glass roof is apparently standard, as is 16-inch alloy wheels.

Standard safety features are top-notch with 7 airbags, SBR (Seat Belt Reminder) technology, anti-whiplash devices on seats, double pretensioners on front seat belts, collapsible steering wheel, steering column designed to absorb impact energy in a controlled manner and LED rear lights to improve the visibility of the vehicle. It is also equipped with ABS and EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution). The Electronic Q2 system in the Giulietta reproduces the effect of a self-locking differential for better cornering characteristics. VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) and ASR (Anti Slip Regulation) are there to optimise traction if necessary.

Other safety features include hydraulic brake assist in emergency braking situations as well as the hill-holder system which, when starting on a hill, maintains the braking action for a few seconds after the brake has been released, thus avoiding the car moving backwards.

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta has a starting price of Dhs 101,000 to Dhs 118,000 in the UAE. Prices go further up if you opt to add the 18-inch alloy wheels and special paint options.

  1. I would love to buy an Alfa Romeo but I am afraid from dealer service & resale esp in GCC
    what do u think?

  2. Alfas are really nice cars, built with idea of being affordable sports cars. Too bad the resale value is so low in UAE, they do not deserve it.
