BMW i3, 7-Series hybrid and X5 spy-shots in Dubai
Our friendly neighbourhood reader-cum-photographer Rizwan Khan made a quick draw for his cam after seeing these BMW vehicles that have possibly come to Dubai for summer testing.
The first car spotted is the BMW i3. The urban electric car is powered by a 170 hp electric motor with 230 Nm of torque. The i3 gets from a standstill to 100 kph in under eight seconds and goes all the way to a 150 kph top speed. It is matched to the motor is a single-speed transmission.
The second is obviously the BMW ActiveHybrid 7. It is propelled by a 4.4-litre V8 motor that pumps out near about 440 hp and 570 Nm torque. Add to that 20 horses and 210 Nm of torque from the onboard electric motor. Amongst the details include an 8-speed automatic transmission, a lithium-ion battery and a regenerative braking system , all of which contribute to the very decent fuel economy figures.
The third car featured is possibly the hybrid variety of the BMW X3. Now the standard X3 is itself is quite the frugal machine, so we are not sure how much more planet-saving BMW want it to be. However, since it is hard to tell the size from this angle, it could also be the all-new 2014 X5 instead.
