Audi SQ5 diesel 2012 crossover unveiled
Audi is using the 24 Hours of Le Mans to campaign for their newly-introduced 313 hp SQ5 crossover.
The SQ5, which is based on Q5, is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre diesel engine and produces 313 hp and 650 Nm of torque from 1,450 to 2,800 rpm. Since the engine sounds awful, Audi has also installed a sound actuator to “enhance” engine noise and exhaust note within the cabin. All SQ5s will be matched to an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission that transfers torque to all four 20-inch wheels.
Audi claims their S-badged crossover will do the 0-100 kph in 5.1 seconds and hit an electronically-restricted 250 kph if the accelerator pedal is pressed long enough.
The body has been lowered, and buyers can also opt for Audi’s dynamic steering system. The SQ5 also gets a different fascia and side mirrors finished in satin while the cabin gets leather and Alcantara seats, a new steering wheel design and S badging splashed all over, though few would notice.
In Europe, deliveries will begin early 2013. It is unlikely to go on sale in the GCC.
