Peugeot 301 revealed ahead of debut

French carmaker Peugeot has sprung out of the quiet with their new offering in the compact saloon segment, the Peugeot 301, not to be mistaken with the vintage model the manufacturer used to roll out for our grandpas. As the new car is set to debut at the forthcoming Paris Motor Show, Peugeot intends to give the competitors in the hotly contested budget compact car segment, a run for their money.

The Peugeot 301 will be offered with the choice of a 3-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol engine cranking out 70 hp, or a 4-cylinder 1.6-litre petrol engine delivering 114 hp, both mated to either a manual or an automatic gearbox. A 1.6-litre diesel engine, mated to a manual transmission and good for 91 hp, will also be available. While claiming class-leading cabin and boot space, the Spanish-built French saloon will also offer several premium and safety features including MP3, Bluetooth and USB connections, automatic a/c, hands-free phone kit, rear parking-assistance systems, automatic boot opening, four airbags, ABS, ESP and an emergency brake-assist system, and so on.

Peugeot claims to have tested the car extensively in several countries with widely-ranging climatic conditions so as to ensure optimum performance and comfort in all situations. The 301 is slated to go on sale by November this year, starting with Turkey, before eventually making it to the UAE and rest of the GCC.
