Long-term wrap-up: 2010 BMW 535i GT
The 2010 BMW 535i Gran Turismo left us many months ago, after less than three weeks with us. We figured we should do a wrap-up article before closing the book on this car, especially since BMW themselves are considering ending production of this car for obvious reasons.
We hardly had the car long enough to consider it a long-termer. However, we ended up racking up a decent amount of kilometres on it, especially since we started using it as a commuter vehicle for regular Dubai-Abu Dhabi-Dubai trips in its last week with us.
The car is a superb high-speed cruiser, smoother than our previous Infiniti QX56 long-termer, and it did so with no issues during its time with us. The air suspension was excellent, the a/c was good, the engine was strong. With lots of highway driving, our fuel economy of 12.5 litres/100 km was pretty decent but not remarkable, although this could be expected from a car that weighs much more than even our Jeep Grand Cherokee V8!
We treated the car as our own and never abused it, and it served us well. However, after BMW took it back to run some errands, it apparently developed some engine problems and they never gave it back to us. And that’s the end of that.

Infiniti vehicles are really good performer, they still need some improvement in the comfort zone to reach the level of Lexus.
I know why you mentioned this line, “We treated the car as our own and never abused it, and it served us well.” So that they won’t blame you. ^_^

They never blamed me, but I figured I’ll clear it up for readers. You can be sure that the “leading” magazines destroy their long-term cars before handing it back.

I know at least one who keeps trying to drift on public roads. When he crashes, he blames the car. Happened at least twice.

Over the next 3 years the Big Three germans are going to release a minimum of 60 new models among themselves and we are deinnetly gonna see lot of them have very short production spans.
So buyers for new german cars beware ,stick to the regulars or you will soon end up with cars no one has heard of …
