Mazda MX-5 Miata Special Edition revealed in Chicago


Mazda have revealed a special edition for the MX-5 Miata at the Chicago Auto Show to celebrate 900,000 units being produced. It is an upgraded version of the top model, the Grand Touring. Only 750 units will be made.

The 2011 Mazda MX-5 Miata Special Edition comes with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine which produces 167 hp and 190 Nm of torque. If you opt for the automatic gearbox, it gets 158 hp. The optional suspension package comes standard in the special edition, which includes Bilstein shocks, a limited slip differential and a sport-tuned suspension.

Inside, the special edition gets grey door trim and heated leather seats with grey stitching, a black leather-wrapped parking brake and steering wheel with contrasting grey stitching, chrome treatments to the air vents and instrument cluster as well as aluminium pedals. Special Edition models are packaged with 17-inch aluminium alloy wheels.

It is not known if the special edtion MX-5 Miata will make its way to UAE, Saudi Arabia and other GCC regions.

  1. How is the performance? Every says its not fast but it is really fun to drive.

  2. Its one of the last few affrodable driver’s car…

    • Well its overpriced here, around 130k. And i would say its a lil more than easily affordable. You have a lot of drivers cars at that price. I would go for a VW scirocco any day.

    • With that money I would choose the Civic type-R.

    • The Type-R is a gud car, but its unbearably unconfortable in normal driving and highly impractical. Also it doesnt have the class and build quality compared to the scirocco. But then its a lil cheaper… So i guess its about choice! 😉

    • May be when I got to drive one I went totally crazy and never knew about the bad comfort. 🙂

  3. nothing is special about this car except the roof and the sound system.
    I used to have one before.
