Sharjah Auto Show 2010 with awards in October

The 10th Sharjah International Auto Show will kick off in October with a more varied range of activities this year, such as a tuner car section, offroad driving track, and a “Middle East Car Of The Year” awards event in which I will be one of the judges.

The exhibition, taking place at Expo Centre Sharjah between 14 and 18 October 2010, will have “leading manufacturers and distributors as well as unique interactive features.”

Show highlights include the first Middle East Motor Awards and a state-of-the-art 4×4 driving course by Off-Road Zone. The track will include an extreme rock driving track, complete with artificial wadis, log drives and a RC Racer Zone. There are also plans to have a vintage car rally with vehicles provided by the Sharjah Classic Car Museum.

The show will span 58,000 square metres of indoor and outdoor space and is supported by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Emirates Motor Sports Federation. There will be a number of visitor-focused initiatives, including safety, which will be one of this year’s main themes. Instructors will give demonstrations and offer driving tips to visitors in a purpose-built area.

The first Middle East Motor Awards 2010 will be held on the first day of the show, judged by a panel of 12 “senior motoring journalists” representing 7 countries from across the Middle East. There will be 10 categories, including Best Luxury Car, Best SUV and Best Saloon Car, culminating in the prestigious Car of the Year. There will also be a special hybrid category. You can already start guessing which brands I will not be nominating.

As a one-off showcase, the Middle East Motor Tuning Show (MEMTS) 2010 will also run alongside the International Auto Show, featuring the Custom Design Cup, an entertainment area and an array of companies showcasing tuning and modifying equipment. In addition, MEMTS will host a business area with a full seminar and conference programme for manufacturers and regional distributors.

DriveArabia.com will also have a show stand at the event.

  4. what about bringing a small suggestions box to your stand there?

  5. How about making a member give you a more exciting car as the drive arabia show car cause no offense but the M coupe isn’t a crowd puller and a GT-R (from sohi) or something similar might be better…no harm trying you know.

Also try to make them hire me as the photographer…please!! 🙂

  6. booth babes?

  7. Author

A GT-R isn’t a crowd-puller either any more. But the larger issue is no one will give their car to sit for 5 days. Booth babes will make me go bankrupt.

  8. Looks like Chevy and GM have got in at right time!!

Think the honda type R will be a tough competitor thru out in its category after reading ur impressions!!

  9. Also a suggestion….can we make this as a DA meet 3 at the expo???? and provide our support in all our capacities to Mash and DA!!

  10. Make your new buddies Chevrolet to lend you a Camaro….

  11. Author

A Camaro is on every street corner now. Plus there will be one at the Chevy stand.

  12. aaaah….I give up…

Btw why don’t you embed a ‘share’ button for articles…

  13. Author

  14. atleast recommend me as the photographer for the event… 🙂

  15. Author

They never had one. I never got any “official” pics from them.

    Also, you can share now.

  16. I did not mean the share on fb or tweet button but this http://www.addthis.com/

I’m sure they’ll get an official photographer for the event….so recommend me then.. 🙂

Gawd, that button’s even worse. They always pop up on mouseover and refuse to pop back down.
