Dubai venue for second MINI City Rally

MINI, the small car with substance in abundance celebrated big this week when over 40 MINI cars, including two classic Mini cars, convened for Dubai’s second MINI City Rally. The highlight of the event included a giant game of MINI bowling in a race against the clock where MINI drivers had to manoeuvre around giant bowling pins.

Other motorists and passers-by looked on with green-eyed envy during the day as convoys of MINI cars created a presence on the road that no other vehicle could rival. Every colour and shape of MINI was out in full force traversing a course covering Dubai Media City, Atlantis Hotel on the Palm, Dubai Mall, The Walk at JBR, Art Sawa Gallery and the Montgomery Golf Course, with the final pit stop at Dubai’s home of motor racing, the Dubai Autodrome.

Now in its second year, the successful MINI City Rally included an elaborate treasure hunt of games that tested teams of MINI drivers’ driving ability, creativity, humour and intelligent thinking, all in pursuit of becoming the ‘MINI City Rally Champion 2010’.

Ahmed Abdelhady, who was on the winning ‘Laser Blue’ team said: “This year’s rally was a great event. The challenges were all well planned and exciting, making it enjoyable and different compared to how we all usually spend our weekends. Meeting so many different MINI owners was also a major highlight as we were all being united with one common goal: to have a fun and exciting MINI experience.”

Konan Lim, another participant at the rally said: “There was so much enthusiasm and team spirit amongst all the teams which made the rally very enjoyable for me. One of my favourite activities of was without question the MINI golfing challenge; having never played a game of golf in my life before and getting a hole–in-one was such a fantastic feeling.”

The MINI City Rally was organised in association with MINI Middle East; AGMC, The exclusive importer of MINI in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates; and the MINI Club Dubai, who organizes events and social gatherings for anyone interested in MINI and who wants to enjoy even more of what MINI has to offer. Red Bull, Media One Hotel, The Montgomerie Golf Club and Art Sawa Gallery also gave MINI a helping hand to make it a memorable occasion for all participants.

The final stop on the rally saw all participants meeting up at the Dubai Autodrome to drive their MINI cars on the racing track, network with other MINI owners and explore details of the MINI Club Dubai.
