Dubai Autodrome FIA GT3 European Championship Finale cancelled

Dubai Autodrome management today announced that they will not be hosting the final round of the FIA GT3 European Championship which was scheduled to be held on 11 and 12 November 2009. Dubai Autodrome wish to thank the FIA, ATCUAE, SRO the organizers of the FIA GT championship and teams for their support and understanding of these circumstances. We look forward to welcoming them back in years to come, for the event which has been a mainstay of the Dubai motorsport calendar.

The Dubai Autodrome has today announced that the circuit will be unable to host the final two rounds of the 2009 FIA GT3 European Championship, which were scheduled to be held on November 14/15, and SRO has made a request to the FIA to reschedule the season finale at Zolder in Belgium on October 24/25.

“We have been working with the management of the Dubai Autodrome to find a solution,” said SRO Chairman Stephane Ratel. “Regrettably these efforts were unsuccessful and today we have made a request to the FIA to move the final races of the 2009 FIA GT3 European Championship to Zolder on the same weekend as the final round of the FIA GT Championship. I would like to thank everyone at the Dubai Autodrome for their hard work and we hope we will be able to return there in the near future.”
