American tuner Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) does not have the best of reputations in the United States, but whatever they do create is always noteworthy. Already busy developing a 705 hp version of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro with a modified Corvette ZR1 engine, which they plan to launch in early 2010, Hennessey is currently launching a simpler 562 hp Camaro, calling it the HPE550.

The limited edition HPE550 uses the Camaro’s standard LS3 V8 engine from the SS model, but adds a Magnuson supercharger and stainless-steel Corsa sports exhaust system. Power is boosted to 562 hp at 6,200 rpm and 754 Nm of torque at 4,200rpm. Other modifications include new fuel injectors, a high-flow intake, aluminium wheels, a custom aerodynamics package and stickers. According to Hennessey’s own claims the HPE550 Camaro will do the 0-100 kph run in 4.3 seconds.

The kit alone costs the equivalent of Dhs 69,500, not including the cost of installation and the price of a new 2010 Camaro SS. HPE has sent been in contact with us before, indicating that they are ready to ship their products to the UAE.
