Lamborghini Riyadh hosts Superleggera series finals
Lamborghini Riyadh hosted the final of its five-round Superleggera race series on 30 April, with ten cars participating in the 15 lap race at Al-Reem International Circuit.
The race series, organised by Al Ghassan Motors, the Lamborghini dealer for Riyadh, Al Khobar and Jeddah, has been followed by local Saudi TV sports stations, and attracted crowds of thousands trackside. The racing series debuted last December.
In the final race, the eventual series winner Saeed Al Mouri just edged series contender Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisel, to the winning line. The winners’ trophies were presented by Prince Sultan Bin Fahd, President of the General Presidency of Youth Welfare, His Royal Highness Prince Bandar Al Faisel alongside Sheikh Ghassan A Al Sulaiman, owner and President of Al Ghassan Motors, along with Lamborghini’s regional manager for the Middle East, Martin Andrews.
The lightweight four-wheel drive Superleggera cars provided spectacularly fast and close racing throughout the year.
“We are anticipating a new series starting at the end of 2009,” confirmed Sheikh Ghassan A Al Sulaiman, “based on the extraordinary enthusiasm we’ve seen this year, from those who want to take part as well as the crowds who want to watch.”
Accompanying race and series winner Saeed Al Mouri onto the podium, were Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal in second place, and Bandar Ali Reza in third.
