2009 Seat Ibiza Cupra in Europe

While the new face of the 2009 Seat Ibiza still isn’t seen in the GCC, the Spanish company has revealed the Seat Ibiza Cupra in Europe. The car will officially be shown at the 2008 Paris Auto Show in October.

The Ibiza Cupra comes with a 178 hp 1.4-litre supercharged/turbocharged TSI 4-cylinder, mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox and front-wheel-drive. Traction control, stability control, stiff suspension, 17-inch wheels and sports seats are all standard. The exterior get unique bumpers and side skirts, along with the larger wheels.

The Ibiza Cupra should come to the GCC sometime next year, although I hope they didn’t ditch the standard manual gearbox completely. Recently, I considered buying an early-model Cupra myself only due to its stick-shift transmission.

What do you think?

  1. 7 speed gear box intresting..

  2. Seat really tunes their cars well…I mean imagine getting 178 horses out of a 1.4L engine…thats something special…think if they had a 3.0L, they might have worked out someting in the 350+ horses category…then we r talking business…

  3. ^^^^^
    “1.4-litre **supercharged/turbocharged** TSI 4-cylinder”

by the way: EVO has a 2.0 engine 4 cylinder. and its giving around 300 HP

  4. …and when you overwork the engine…you reduce its life…its not that Toyota, Nissan, Honda don’t know how to add turbos to Corolla’s , Tiida’s and Civics…

  5. That new DSG gearbox is great, Ive tried it on a golf R32 and it was amazing. It shifts faster than ur regular manual. GO for this. But the one and only true hot hatch are golfs. I suggest get the GTI or the R32 over this seat.
