Photos of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe have been leaked onto the interweb. Looks like both their new luxury sedan and this new coupe will share a name. No official details have been released.

This new rear-wheel-drive car is expected to have a 210 hp 2.0-litre turbo-4 with almost 300 Nm of torque, and a 306 hp 3.8-litre V6 with around 360 Nm.

Gearbox options will include a six-speed manual and a six-speed auto with paddles.

The suspension setup is MacPherson struts up front and five-link in the rear, theoretically like a BMW.

Hyundai engineers claim that torsional rigidity was benchmarked with a BMW M3. The wheelbase is longer than that of a Ford Mustang, but this coupe achieves 50/50 weight distribution for balanced handling.

The car will debut soon at the upcoming 2008 New York Auto Show. After years of lopsided slow models, Hyundai has finally churned out a sports car worthy of looking like a Ferrari.

What do you think?

  1. Now it just looks like a Ferrari, and it is not bad performance wise too, But in a few years I hope it will demolish Ferrari.

  2. finally a good work ………….hyundai …keep going…………..a wake up call for others!!!!!

  3. they might put the same V8 found in genesis sedan…..then its gonna be a real powerful sports car….

  4. lets just hope it is on economic trim. mash, im one of your freqent visitor of your site mash plz explain to me why most europian spec road cars are efficient economical they have most best quality for the majority.what made these trims different from gulf spec americ. spec.

  5. hello genesis coupe, bye bye g35 coupe

  6. hehehe….the first thing its g37..you should read about cars then come and add a comment….second thing you should wait till 2010 to comment on this car!!!!! funny 😆 😆 😆 😆

  7. Saad Bashar your a joke ! Ferrari will be No. 1 no matter what other manufacturers do. Nobody does and will ever have that much passion and heritage ! So mate, Go to bed !

  8. Hey PJ, how does ‘passion’ and ‘heritage’ come in the way of performance? I didnt know that making a car ‘Passionately’ improves it’s performance 😕

Anyway, Lexus’s new concept sport car is running rings around its competitors, and even the new GT-R is. Don’t forget, Ferrari is also these car’s competitor. 😀 😀

Now you might realise that I’m not joking. Hyundai is not far behind Lexus and Nissan, so think again when you say Hyundai can’t compete with Ferrari.

Looking forward to another comment from you mate. And don’t worry, I won’t be in bed, I will be wide awake to see it. 😉

  9. to some extend i do agree with saad’s comment….recent times japanese makers are trying hard to bring things that competes with euro sport and luxury cars….best example is new GTR which is a givin a real trouble of 911 thats used be a bench mark in that segment….again lexus and honda is bringing super sports cars with V10’s in couple of yrs that could be a real competition for ferrari’s n lambos in both performance n price….

lookin at the age of hyundai motor company and in such a short span they were able to develop there own V8’s thats as powerful and efficient as german n japanese V8’s….then surely its not far frm developin a super sport car with V10’s or V12’s that could be competing with euro biggies….n surely price would be half of the european super sports cars….so think twice before u make fun of these korean car builder…..

  10. Saad actually while PJ is partly correct, you are absolutely correct. ‘Smaller’ manufacturers have been able to almost match/match the performance of a ferrari like you said but what PJ means is those manufacturers will never get the same kind of ‘respect’ shown to a ferrari. the feeling u get when u drive a ferrari will never be got driving in something that was made to match the performance of a ferrari. when u own a ferrari you feel like you are part of the ‘ferrari family’ while the hyundai above will just be another car u drove. but since im poor and cant afford a ferrari, GOOO HYUNDAIII… 😆

  11. thats what i was going to say CB …saad misunderstood PJ…and Pj was correct…please saad go and try to sleep..i think u need to relax 😆 😆 😆 😆

  12. lol i didnt say saad is wrong. he is absolutely correct too.

  13. Hey people I’m sorry if I offended you in any way. I don’t have any grudge against Ferrari in any way, and I do like the respect you get for driving one… But guys I am talking about performance not about passion and heritage.

Also PJ and thatsit(mohamad) whats about me and sleeping??

  14. can someone say…sarcasm? 😛 my bad about the g37

  15. well saad in ur 1st post if u meant that hyundai will demolish ferrari(or any other super car for that matter), performance wise in a few years time, then you MAYBE correct. but if u meant demolish as in completely turn people away from ferrari then you are wrong because, given enough money, one would almost always go 4 a ferrari over a hyundai no matter how good the ‘ferrari-killer’ hyundai can perform. 🙂

  16. the design is really cool. good luck to hyundai. 😉
hyndai has to do proper marketing to gain little more respect. 😆 😆

  17. i saw the launch video of this car….looks great….2.0ltr turbo version is gonna be awesome….

  18. I think just like the Datsun/Nissan 240Z earned the Japanese car makers respect in the ’70s, the Genesis Coupe will finally make people respect Korean car companies. Hyundai and Kia make some nice cars these days but people don’t look at them because they think they’re the same as the Korean cars from the ’90s.

  19.
Zao says
they might put the same V8 found in genesis sedan…..then its gonna be a real powerful sports car….
yes Zao, hyundai is planning to put a lambda V8 in this coupe.

Hyundai Kia has been ranked 5th by JD power and associates and I think 3rd for quality (thats just after lexus). so Hyundai-Kia is ONE OF the fastest growing auto brands in the world. Kia has won so many awards in America and more in Europe, it just has to get noticed more here (UAE).

  20. yes boris to some extend u r true….its the perception of the ppl in this part of the world that should change…hyundai n kia is having really good sales in north american and european markets….here in uae there is only 2 catergory of car buyers…. 1. who needs trouble free cars with good resale value that goes for japanese cars n 2. who needs power luxury and image who goes for the german cars…..in recent times if u look at the reports of quality and reliability some of the korean and american cars are doing better than toyota and honda cars….but still ppl are not ready to have a look at it or change there perception….

  21. man this car seems really cool! i think it wil knock out many sports coupe!! bt i think for now it wud b hard for hyundai to sale this car although it performz n looks gud bt the thing ppl see here is the name hyundai!! they hav to improv their image!! this car cud be slow on sale or a big hit giving hyundai’s reputation a big boost!!!
lets c wen it arrives in gcc

  22. Awesome car! But i think they should decrease the price marginally, as its absolutely equally priced with the new Mustang V6. Now IMHO this is better than a mustang in many respects, but the mustang has heritage and a dream car status, for many, hyundai should keep their prices just a tad lower to steal buyers. I might be one of them. Fantastic work Hyundai..
