Some of you may have noticed that my brother Marouf does not write news articles for us any more. That’s because he is now a web editor at a sports newspaper in Abu Dhabi. So it’s been over two months and about 7500 km with the car. The experience has been a very good one indeed, so far. The car provides a smooth commute as always and has been functioning very well. There hasn’t been any niggles except for some slight squeaks from the gearbox area as mentioned in the previous updates, which has now been fixed.

Our 2009 Renault Safrane hit the 10,000 km mark, so we took it in for a dealer service in Dubai. Making the appointment a day earlier by phone was hassle-free, and we dropped off the car at 10 am in the morning.

The 2011 Infiniti QX56 is no more with us, having gone back to Nissan Middle East earlier this month. It was a good ride, initially overwhelming us with its size, but then proving to be very manouevrable in all but the tightest of cases.

This is the final hurrah for our 2011 Infiniti QX56 long-termer, which has already gone back to Nissan Middle East. The QX has some special features and details that can only be discovered in person. With familiarity comes fondness. When we first asked BMW for a long-term tester, we requested the new 5-Series. When we found out we’ll be given the 5-Series Gran Turismo instead, we weren’t thrilled but we were ready to take any BMW we got. While we still haven’t seen head or tail of the 5-Series sedan, we now believe the 5-Series GT is actually the better luxury car, considering it is more expensive. And that means it gets every option that we saw in the last 7-Series we tested.
