2012 Porsche Cayman

Porsche is offering a "new" Cayman model from 2009, and while the facelift is barely noticeable, the real changes are under the bonnet. Still available in base and S versions, both models feature more horsepower, new gearbox choices and modern multimedia options. A lightweight Cayman R model debuted in early 2011 with slightly more power. The base Cayman now has a 2.9-litre flat-6, while the Cayman S and Cayman R have a 3.4-litre flat-6 with direct fuel injection technology. A Cayman S Black Edition model also gets the R engine. While a 6-speed manual is standard on all, the optional new 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) dual-clutch automanual gearbox is also available, which actually improves acceleration and fuel economy.
