2009 Opel Astra

The latest Astra is a competitive five-door hatchback from General Motors' German division, with a decent-sized wheelbase that aims for comfort and space. The Astra received an unnoticeable facelift for 2007 that now adds a chrome crossbar on the radiator grille, and black roof trim strips and bumper guards. It comes with a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine for the Middle East market, mated specifically to a four-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. Features include power windows, electric mirrors, cloth upholstery, 60/40 split-folding rear seat back, keyless entry, power steering, CD stereo, trip computer and alloy wheels. The Astra comes with a standard tyre repair kit instead of a spare tyre to improve luggage volume, which expands when the rear seat backs are folded down. Safety features include front airbags, front-side airbags, ABS brakes with emergency brake assist, and electronic brakeforce distribution. Stability control is optional.
