Released in 2003, and ever so slightly redesigned for 2006, the Mazda 6, also known as the grammatically-incorrect Mazda6, is the sportiest among the current crop of front-wheel-drive midsize family cars, but only in terms of handling. The Mazda 6 was originally designed for the driving enthusiast, with choices of V6 and turbocharged engines, but the Middle East market only gets a pathetic 2.0-litre and a reasonable 2.3-litre engine, both of which are four-cylinder and come with a choice of manual or automatic. The 2.0-litre comes in the four-door sedan and an attractive five-door station wagon body style, while the 2.3-litre comes in the four-door sedan shape as well as a sporty five-door liftback , as long in length as the sedan.
