2002 Land Rover Freelander

Introduced in Europe during 1997, the Freelander marked a significant change for Land Rover. The Freelander became the first car-like vehicle for the British 4x4 specialist, with features such as a monocoque body and independent strut suspension. But although the Freelander does not have the off-road ability of its bigger brothers, it is surprisingly capable for a soft-roader. The Freelander Series 1, as it is now known, lacks low-range gearing and a locking differential, but it came with Hill Descent Control and a durable platform. The Freelander reached GCC shores much later after the European launch, in three-door and five-door body styles. Standard features included a weak 2.5-litre V6, automatic gearbox, power accessories, CD stereo, 16-inch ot 17-inch alloy wheels, cloth or leather cabin, lots of black plastic body-cladding, and skid plates that protect the fuel tank, engine and transmission.
