BMW M5 2010 Overview

The BMW M5 is the high performance version of the 5-series and debuted in 2006 with a high-revving 5.0-litre V10 engine, mated to 7-speed automanual transmission. It was the first production sedan to feature a V10 engine, said to have been made as a tribute to the Formula 1 V10 era. It was the fastest production sedan in the world at the time of its release. It also has a launch control function. Standard options include power windows, climate control, active cruise control, head-up display, active steering, Harman Kardon Logic7 stereo system, ESP, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), voice control, adaptive headlights, night vision, active headrests, xenon headlights, run-flat tyres, active cruise control, LED rear lights, lane departure warning and brake force display.

BMW M5 2010 Reliability & Resale Value

Reliability
Resale Value
Known Problems Tyre pressure monitor may give wrong readings. Roaring sound becomes significant on runflat tyres after 20,000 kms, and some reports of low-profile ones losing pressure, but replaced under warranty. Steering rack may leak fluid out of end seal and into track-rod end gaiter. BMW claims "lifetime" automatic transmission fluid so dealer will never change blackened fluid during service intervals, so owners should get it changed independently every 80,000 kms. Battery may die overnight if the key is left in the ignition. The "check engine" light may turn on and a rattling noise heard from engine is due to leak in oil line for variable valve timing system. Speedometer needle may vibrate at idle, fixed by reprogramming.
