Attempting to cash in on the four-door 'coupe' craze, Volkswagen jumped into the ring with their ill-conceived Passat CC. While 'CC' stands for 'Comfort Coupe,' there isn't much different from the standard Passat, except for a slightly-deformed exterior and a reduction in headroom. Priced to fail between the standard Passat and the large Phaeton, the Passat CC utilises a common platform with the Passat, including the same engines, mechanicals and interior components. The sporty looks are betrayed by its standard engine choices, which include a 1.8-litre and a 2.0-litre, with a manual or DSG automanual. Both TSI engines are turbocharged 4-cylinder units. By 2010, we believe VW dropped the 1.8-litre and introduced the 3.6-litre V6 with all-wheel-drive and a 6-speed automanual.
