2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

The Gullwing is back for 2010 on a completely new and unique platform, paying homage to the original 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing. But the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is supposed to be an everyday-use supercar, ditching McLaren in favour of in-house development by AMG. The car's trademark feature is the set of 'gullwing' doors that open upwards, requiring less room to open than conventional coupe doors. Underneath the long bonnet is the usual AMG-built 6.2-litre V8 engine, retuned and mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automanual gearbox in this application. A lightweight structure molded largely from carbon-fibre and aluminium double-wishbone suspension form the basics of the SLS.
