2000 Citroen Saxo

The French-built Saxo was launched in 1996 to replace the Citroën AX. The car's platform, engines and major components were a development of the AX and were shared with the Peugeot 106, Citroën's unofficial sister company. The different trim levels and engine options in the Saxo range changed many times during the model's lifetime. Engines amd trims included a 1.4-litre, a 1.6-litre VTR and a tuned 1.6-litre VTS. The sporting VTR and VTS came with 14-inch alloy wheels, firmer suspension, sports seats and a body kit. The 2000 model year saw the introduction of this heavily-facelifted version and upgraded engines, even though the basic platform was already dated. The Saxo came as 3-door and 5-door hatchback models, and only the basic 1.4i model had an optional automatic available. Basics included a stereo, cloth cabin, front airbags and not much else.
