The fifth-generation BMW 7-Series was all-new for the 2009 model year and facelifted for 2013. The first models to be relaunched include the 730Li, the 740Li, the 750Li, and the 760Li, all long-wheelbase variants as most GCC dealers chose to import only the stretched models. The confusing naming convention continues, with the 740i and 740Li powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-6 engine and the 750i and 750Li powered by an updated 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, although the 730i and 730Li models get a naturally-aspirated 3.0-litre inline-6. The limited-availability 760Li gets a 6.0-litre turbo V12. Badge deception notwithstanding, all engines are capable performers, featuring Double-VANOS variable valve technology, direct injection, and a new 8-speed automatic.
