2010 Audi A3

The A3 hatchback slips into Audi's line-up as the company's smallest and cheapest model. It was introduced in 2004, received a minor facelift in 2005, and has undergone a second facelift to keep it fresh. Sharing its platform with the MKV-generation VW Golf, the main A3 models now available here are a 1.8-litre and a 2.0-litre, both turbocharged 4-cylinder engines mated to front-wheel-drive platforms and dual-clutch automanual gearboxes. Most dealers do not offer Quattro, manual or V6 models, as found in Europe, although Audi's clueless GCC-office people might argue otherwise. Since the three-door flopped here, the only bodystyle offered now is the five-door Sportback. Standard features include four-wheel disc brakes, 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, power windows, power locks with keyless remote, cloth seats and a CD player.
