Overview

This VW marks the return of the Jetta nameplate to the Middle East, replacing the Bora lineup. However, it could have been better. Engines choices include a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder unit and an odd 2.5-litre 5-cylinder unit that is conspicuously underpowered for its size. Both engines are equipped with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or the new 6-speed Tiptronic automatic. The Jetta GLI debuted later in 2008, with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine and 6-speed DSG automanual gearbox. Volkswagens are known for better-than-average handling, and the new Jetta is said to be no exception. The new Jetta is larger than the previous Bora, and it features a more spacious interior stuffed with convenience and lavished with Volkswagen's attention to detail.
