VinFast VF8 2025 Overview

VinFast, a Vietnamese automaker, is steadily gaining traction in the global electric vehicle (EV) market. The VF8, a midsize electric SUV, is now available in the UAE and is positioned to compete with models such as the Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Ioniq 5,

The VinFast VF8 is designed by Pininfarina, giving it a distinct and contemporary appearance. The front features a grille-less design, consistent with many EVs, and a horizontal LED light bar that defines its identity. Its muscular side profile includes sharp lines and flared wheel arches, while the rear carries a cohesive design with connected LED taillights. Buyers can choose between 19-inch or 20-inch alloy wheels, depending on the selected trim.

The cabin of the VF8 adopts a minimalist layout centered around a large 15.6-inch touchscreen. This screen consolidates most controls, including navigation, climate settings, and entertainment. There is no separate instrument cluster; essential driving information is displayed on the touchscreen or via an optional heads-up display.

Materials used in the interior include soft-touch plastics, synthetic leather, and metallic trim. Standard features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charging pad, and a 360-degree camera. Safety systems are comprehensive, offering adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and a driver monitoring system.

The VF8 is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. Two variants are available: Eco and Plus. The Eco version generates 348 horsepower, while the Plus version delivers 402 horsepower. The Plus trim can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in approximately 5.5 seconds.

VinFast claims a range of up to 420 km for the Eco trim, while the Plus trim’s range is slightly lower due to increased power demands. Both variants support fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes using a compatible DC fast charger. Of course, real-world range may vary depending on driving conditions and usage patterns.
