Overview
Proton claimed that the Waja was their first in-house car designed by Malaysians. However, its petrol engine is bought directly from Mitsubishi, and the suspension work was done by their independent Lotus division. The Waja is sold as the Impian in some markets, or referred to as the Waja Campro sometimes to advertise its latest engine. Powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder, this four-door sedan can be had with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. The car is available with cloth upholstery, front power windows, trip computer, 60/40 split folding rear seats, keyless entry, 15-inch alloy wheels, central locking and CD stereo with four speakers and steering wheel-mounted controls. Options include a 10-disc CD changer, rear power windows, sunroof, cruise control, leather seating, fog lamps and metallic paint.
