2009 Proton Savvy

The Savvy is the third car developed by Proton itself, after the Waja and the Gen2. This five-door hatchback is sized somewhere between a mini hatchback and a sub-compact, thus making this entry level Proton one of the larger offerings in this market segment. Hilariously touted as a cheap "Lotus" in early marketing materials, the Savvy benefits from numerous unique features, such as actual suspension tuning by Lotus, stepped side windows and a clamshell-style hood. Lifting the hood reveals a Renault 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine, mated to either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic. Standard features include cloth upholstery, 50:50 flat folding rear seats, keyless entry, power steering, rear window wiper, 14-inch steel wheels and a CD player with four speakers. Options include front power windows, 15-inch alloy wheels and metallic paint. The Savvy is available with ABS brakes and dual front airbags. The Savvy is not available in all GCC markets.
