2009 Porsche Boxster

Porsche is offering a "new" Boxster model from 2009, and while the facelift is barely noticeable, the real changes are under the bonnet. Still available in base and S versions, both models feature more horsepower, new gearbox choices and modern multimedia options. A new lightweight Boxster Spyder model debuted in 2010. The base Boxster now has a 2.9-litre flat-6, while the Boxster S has a 3.4-litre flat-6 with direct fuel injection technology. The Spyder uses the 3.4-litre engine, with slightly more power. While a 6-speed manual is standard on both, the optional new 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) dual-clutch automanual gearbox is also available, which actually improves acceleration and fuel economy.
