Lexus GS 2008 Overview
The Lexus GS is a showcase of the Japanese company's advanced technology. It was released in 2006, it's not only loaded with more gadgetry than ever, but offers a degree of luxury that matches the best from Germany. Lexus openly admits that the BMW 5-Series was their benchmark for the new rear-wheel-drive GS. The appeal of the GS line-up lies with a fully-equipped base model. The GS 300 has most of the available features from the GS 430, except of course for the larger engine. The GS 300 gets a 3.0-litre V6 while the GS 430 gets a 4.3-litre V8, both paired with six-speed automatic with a sequential manual shift mode. Both engines lack the direct injection feature of American-spec versions apparently due to damaging high-sulphur petrol in some GCC countries, so power ratings are lower. The list of standard equipment includes leather-trimmed seats with front power adjustment, keyless entry, pushbutton starter, a premium sound system with both CD and DVD capability, Bluetooth wireless telephone technology, multiple airbags, various stability systems and a 7-inch multi-information touch screen. Options include DVD navigation, rear backup camera, moonroof, power rear sunshade, Mark Levinson audio system and adaptive front lighting.
