Overview
The XJ remains the luxury flagship of the Jaguar range. It is a truly
handsome large car, with elegant lines rather than the random curves of its
German rivals. The XJ-Series comes in regular and long-wheelbase versions,
depending on model. While the sportier option would be the standard-wheelbase
models, the long-wheelbase models offer enough rear-seat room to recline and watch a movie while having
lunch on a tray. The Jaguar XJ8 was launched as an all-new model for 2003, along with the
high-performance XJR, offering superior ride and handling to their predecessors thanks to their rigid lightweight aluminium
structure and computer-controlled suspension. Other model
variations include the XJ6, the XJ8 Sovereign and the Super V8. Engines include
the 3.0-litre V6, the 3.6-litre V6, the 4.2-litre V8 and the supercharged

Clonking suspension on tight turns apparently normal. In pre-2007 models, battery may go dead in a week if not driven, due to an electronic control module that doesn't turn off. Various water leaks possible through headliner, driver's side floor and rear trunk. Minor electrical issues, including warning lights turning on for no reason. Aluminium body repair expensive. Steel rivets on aluminium body prone to corrosion in wet weather.
