Overview
The sporty XF sedan is still based on the previous S-Type's mechanicals, but it is a real step forward towards competing in the real world. While Jaguar is owned by India-based Tata now, the XF was the last car developed under Ford ownership. Carryover engines include the adequate 3.0-litre V6 and the attractive 4.2-litre V8, while the powerful supercharged 4.2-litre V8 is reserved for the SV8. All engines are mated to a ZF six-speed automatic with manual shift capability. The most interesting feature of the car is its simplistic interior which consists of toys such as a rotary-dial gear selector, hideway a/c vents and touchless operation of the glovebox and overhead lights. Depending on model, features include power seats with memory, a split-folding rear seat, automatic dual-zone climate control, trip computer, sunroof and adaptive cruise control.
