This was one of the most popular versions of the Accord, being the first model to actually offer interior space befitting a midsize family car. Its conservative styling proved to be just right for its target market, and it even became the only Accord generation to become the top-selling car in the competitive American market, even though it was mildly overshadowed by the Camry in the GCC. The American-built two-door coupes are also a common sight. This new-for-1998 model was completely redesigned compared to the previous model, but retained the fancy double-wishbone suspension system that made Honda famous.
