Overview
Chinese automotive brand Great Wall Motors, better known here for their pickup trucks, launched its first car in the GCC with the Florid hatchback. One look at the Florid though, and it becomes obvious that the car was "inspired" by the Toyota xA and the Toyota Yaris. The Florid is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine, and mated to a CVT automatic proudly outsourced from Belgium. The hatchback is built on a front-wheel-drive platform and features independent front suspension as well as a torsion-beam rear, and front discs with rear drum brakes. Other technical features include 15-inch alloy wheels, Bosch-sourced ABS with electronic brake-force distribution, cloth upholstery, CD/MP3 stereo, mirror-mounted indicator lights, fog lamps, split-folding rear seats, manual a/c, rear spoiler with brake light, power steering, power windows, keyless entry and dual front airbags.
