Overview
Ford went back to the drawing board to completely redesign the Ford Five Hundred, and with inspiration from their European division, they came up with an all-new Taurus for 2010. The new Taurus, while still based on the Five Hundred platform, actually has reduced interior volume due to its stylised exterior. The full-size sedan is powered by a carryover 3.5-litre V6 with some fuel-economy enhancements, while being mated to a 6-speed automatic and front-wheel-drive, with all-wheel-drive optional. The Taurus SHO model, with the 3.5-litre turbocharged "EcoBoost" V6 engine and all-wheel-drive was offered from late 2011. Standard features include power windows, electric mirrors, CD/MP3 stereo, cloth upholstery, 18-inch wheels, and more. Known Problems
Early models had vague computer issues leading to no-start condition, largely solved by reprogramming. First-year models had known issue with brake-grinding due to faulty calipers, fixed under warranty. Issues with erratic transmission shifting fixed by reprogramming by dealer. Tail-light chrome trim peels with time. Few reports of worn front wheel bearings, faulty door locks, speedometer faults, sunroof automatically opening, entire gauge cluster showing fake warnings, a/c internal "doors" failing and struggling power-window motors. Problems with SYNC multimedia computer reported.
