Dodge Durango 2013 Overview
The new-for-2011 Dodge Durango has been completely redesigned, now as a three-row crossover based on a stretched Jeep platform. There is one base trim level with a 3.6-litre V6 and three higher trim levels with a 5.7-litre V8, all with a 5-speed automatic with tiptronic. All models are all-wheel-drive, although only the V8 Hemi models get low-range gearing. The "Express" model gets a V6 engine, 18-inch alloy wheels, tri-zone automatic a/c with rear vents, power windows, electric mirrors, cruise control, built-in rechargeable torch, cargo cover, 6-speaker CD/DVD/MP3 touchscreen stereo with 30GB hard drive and audio jack, fog lamps, automatic headlights, hill-start assist and keyless entry. The "Crew" model adds a V8 engine, leather steering wheel, remote start, front power seats with memory, Bluetooth, navigation, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, 9-speaker stereo with subwoofer, power liftgate, chrome roof rails, chrome mirrors with indicators, chrome exhaust tip, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure display, intelligent keyless entry with starter button, and rear-view camera. The "Crew Lux" model adds leather seats, 20-inch wheels, power-adjustable steering wheel, heated first and second-row seats, "smart beam" headlights, chrome door handles, and rain-sensitive wipers. The top "Citadel" model adds 20-inch chrome alloys, bigger brakes, heated steering wheel, Nappa perforated leather, ventilated front seats, HID headlights, sunroof, blindspot monitor & cross-path detection, forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control. Some the "Citadel" features seem to be optionally available on the lower trim levels. Standard safety features include front airbags, side and curtain airbags, ABS, stability control, rain brake support, anti-theft alarm, active headrests and a tyre-pressure monitor.
Dodge Durango 2013 Reliability & Resale Value

Resale Value | |
Known Problems | Most issues involve first-year models. Early models had "laggy" transmission behaviour, fixed with software update. A handful of owners got odd electrical problems, signified by randomly-faulty behaviour of dash lights, wipers or other items, supposedly fixed by changing the "clock spring" on the steering column. Non-start condition in 2011 models can be due to a faulty "TIPM" relay with the fuel pump. The few vehicles built within a 2-week period in September 2011 with V6 engines had a recall to avoid connecting-rod bearing failure due to debris inside the engine block. Intermittent no-start condition in 2011 models may be fixed by reflashing software for the Wireless Ignition Node. |
