Overview
The all-new Toyota Supra is a co-production with the unloved 2019 BMW Z4, sharing its platform, drivetrain and other bits with the German roadster. While it may never live down the stigma attached to potential German reliability, Toyota claims there are enough changes in the tuning and overall final product to differentiate the two cars substantially.
Built-in Austria by Magna-Steyr and powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-6 cylinder BMW engine, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, adaptive suspension with Normal and Sport driving modes will be standard. In 2021, a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine joined the lineup but stopped selling in the GCC by 2024. In 2023, they also introduced a 6-speed manual version to the GCC market.
