The SLR McLaren is an impressive celebration of Mercedes-Benz and its Formula 1 partner McLaren in the development and production of high-performance sports cars. The two-seater, with its striking swing-wing doors and styling elements borrowed from the Formula 1 Silver Arrows, builds on the legacy of the famous SLR racecars of the 1950s. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, it is designed to ensure a high standard of safety, comfort and class-leading speed. The specially-developed supercharged 5.4-litre V8 engine, with an automatic, delivers an impressive output rivaling traditional super cars, powering up to as much as 334 kph. The body of the new SLR, like F1 racecars, is made from lightweight carbon-fibre composites. However, the body itself is hardly the most attractive of supercars, with an overlong snout and a short rear.
