Overview
An all-new Ford Explorer came out in 2020. The new chassis has gone back to becoming a proper SUV instead of a crossover, so off-road ability has improved. Under the hood, the standard engine gets a 2.3-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Then there is a hybrid model which gets a 3.3-litre V6 engine combined with an electric motor. The top model is the 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine. All engines are mated to an 10-speed automatic transmission. Standard features include power steering, power windows, electric mirrors, cruise control, tri-zone A/C, LED auto headlamps, 8-inch infotainment system, 6 speakers Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, cloth seats, 8-way adjustable power driver's seat, power liftgate reverse camera and 18-inch alloy wheels. The higher models get leather seats, hand's free liftgate, 20 and 21-inch wheels, digital instrument cluster, and better audio system. In the US, there were recalls for the fuel lines chafing, wiring harness which may contact the A/C pulley or belt, and the vehicle which may still be in factory mode.
