The Touran 7-seater is a minivan smaller than the Sharan, with four forward-opening doors and a rear tailgate. Engines include the small 1.6-litre and the 2.0-litre, both four-cylinder units with a manual or automatic. Standard equipment includes stability control, ABS with brake assist system, six airbags, active head restraints for driver and front passenger, and three-point automatic seat belts for all seats. Among the most important features of this new Volkswagen are its versatile interior layout and the good amount of space it provides, with a load area that can be as large as 1,989 litres. The three separate seats in the second row each weigh less than 16 kilograms and can be individually slid forward and back, repositioned sideways, folded into a very small space or removed completely. Similarly, the two rear seats can be folded flat into the floor when not in use. There are up to 39 storage spaces and compartments inside the well-planned interior.
