Toyota Hilux 2023 Overview
The Hilux may be considered the best pickup in its class simply for being from Toyota. The eight-generation Hilux made its debut in the GCC as a 2016 model year. In 2021, it got a facelift. They are available in the single cab and crew cab configurations. Midsize pickups offer better manoeuvrability than the fullsize pickup trucks that the Americans sell as 'lifestyle' vehicles, while providing serious hauling and towing utility. Mechanically, the 2016 Hilux will offer a new 6-speed automatic transmission, which gives a 15-percent better fuel economy rating than the previous generation model. Engine choices include the 2.0-litre and 2.7-litre petrol engines, and a new more powerful 2.4-litre diesel engine. While the 2.0-litre is available only in rear-wheel-drive, the other two engines can be had in either four-wheel-drive or two-wheel-drive. Safety features for it includes front driver and passenger airbags, knee airbag for the driver, ABS, electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) seat-belt equipped on all seats except the centre seat. In 2021, a lifestyle version was introduced called the Hilux Adventure. It gets 4.0-litre V6, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Additional features include painted bumpers, fender flares, infotainment system with touch screen and some fake wood interior trim bits. In 2022, the Hilux Adventure was replaced by the Hilux GR Sport, which gets visual and interior updates, GR badges, as well as some suspension tuning for improved performance.
